Badrinath is Situated between Nar and Narayana mountains in the shadow of Neelkantha Parvat.
This Nar and Narayan Parable goes back to the times of Hiranyakashipu, Prahlad and Nrisimha Avatar. After slaying the demon Hairanyakashipu Nrisimha split into two componenets the lion part became Nar and the Narayan part became human.
Another parael says that they were two rishis who had been performing austerity since time immemorial. It is during the age of Mahabharat ( Dwapar) that theye were bron as Nar—ajrun and Narayana Sri Krishna.
The word Badri has come from the fruit jujube which is dearly offered to Goddess Saraswati on Vasant Panchami, know in the eastern Parts of India as Kul and the festival is called Saraswati Puja.
Interestingly it is at the wrath of Saraswati that Lakshmi had to take the form of Tulasi. On this Vishnu is believed to have taken the form of salegram sila a fossil with the sacred geometry engraved in it.
The sacred geometry has been present in many other religious shrines and monuments. The Great Pyramid at Giza is found to follow the same geometry. The three pyramids are found to be placed on the arch of the same geometry.
Sacred geometry is also found in nature extensively be it the flowers’ inflorescence or the even the shape of the galaxies. The spiral movement of many subatomic particles and galactic bodies are found to follow the same pattern.
It is found in the paintings of Leonardo the Vinci, like the last supper. It is found in many symphonies which are believed to bring in soothing effect and generate feel good hormones (like endorphin) and bring a serene and meditative brain waves like the alpha.
Interestingly, Badrinath in modern times was revived by Shankaracharya when he found a saligram sila on the banks of Alaknanda and placed it in Tapta Kunda.
Later the shrine was built by the King of Garhwal.
The town lies between the Nar and Narayana mountain ranges and in the shadow of Nilkantha peak (6,560m). Badrinath is located 301 km north of Rishikesh. From Gaurikund (near Kedarnath) to Badrinath by road is 233 km.
